Debra Cook Shapiro's large representational paintings describe her world and the people in it. Often they are her own children and their friends. Some are conjured from her imagination with a hint of sadness for the moments that have passed. For inspiration she also relies upon photographs taken on vacations, especially from the summers in Corsica with her family. The artist resides in San Francisco with her husband and two boys.
