Born in Southern California, Ms. Sears received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She began working with clay in 1988 while attending art classes at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Ms. Sears is a professional artist, member of the Schoonmaker Art Alliance and Marin Arts Council. Her sculptures are in galleries and numerous private art collections around the world.
In the summer of 2007 Darcy Sears worked in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, France. St. Quentin is an artist town 30 kilometers west of Avignon. She applied and was accepted into the townís Artist In Residence Program that provided a house and studio for her and her family. At the end of the program Ms. Sears had a successful exposition of the pieces she created in France.
