“It is the connection between the model and artist that I believe fuels figurative art. When I draw or paint the figure I attempt to capture the spirit and attitude of the model while still responding as if to a landscape filled with shadows, curves and light. It is not so much physical beauty that draws me, but what can’t be seen—that which emanates from the model or scene and gives it life.”
