MORT GOLUB I am a self taught artist, working mostly with old wood and metal. Im very interested in original surfaces as well as ancient forms, particularly in the forms and surfaces of prehistoric and tribal art. My close association with these art forms over many years continues to challenge and inspire me. Many of my pieces reflect this interest. I believe that the similarities between ancient objects in diverse cultures through time have a deeper meaning than simple transmission of cultural ideas and forms. I also make found object pieces, using mostly early 20th c material. Most of my bigger pieces can be displayed indoors or outdoors. All are designed to slowly change over time. My studio is open to the public by appointment only. I am represented in new york by the cavin-morris gallery, and on the west coast by volakis gallery, yountville, california. My website www.mysterydance.com has links to both galleries.
