Anne-Marie de Rivera was born in New York City of Belgian and Dutch parents and educated in Canada, Chile and Switzerland, where she graduated from l’Ecole des Beaux Arts de Genève. She was then commissioned by l’Opera de Genève to design the set for “David and Goliath.” At age 22 she moved to Mexico contributing to the development of coastal resorts for twelve years. The remote tropical area she lived in and the people who visited it continued to enrich her imagination and creativity. There, she rediscovered color and created several murals depicting the fauna and flora of her fascinating environment. After returning to the United States she resumed her painting career in 1989.

International exhibitions include the “Salon des Artistes Français ‘93” at the Grand Palais in Paris, “The World Contemporary Art ‘98” in Los Angeles, and at the “Centro Cultural de Las Condes” in Santiago, Chile for the millennium. Her abstract and representational work is a blend of European influence and the colors, passion and folklore of Latin America, resulting in a unique, vibrant style. Fascinated by the animal form and the human figure, she focuses on the intrinsic expression particular to her subjects and their interrelationship. Painting in oils, acrylics and mixed media, she has completed numerous commissioned pieces of people and pets for private collectors. She currently resides in California where she paints full time.
