Suzie Buchholz grew up in the heart of Kansas farmland, where clothes were made by hand, meals were hearty and people made do with what they had. Mining those rich memories while deconstructing modern life, Suzie's work has evolved into a joyous explosion of color, movement and light. Her mixed media abstract paintings play vibrant colors against deeply layered artifacts. Her mixed media sculptures employ found objects (such as plaster and metal reconstruction debris from a 15th century Italian monastery) and pristine white paper, creating a tension between belief and physics, burden and freedom. Suzie studied painting in Aix-en-Provence, France and received a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute.
