Deborah Bertola is a professional oil painter, working at the Industrial Center Building in Sausalito, CA and in New Mexico and Tuscany, Italy.  She is known primarily for her landscape paintings and animal portraits.  Her work is regarded as highly individual and sensitive, with a particularly accomplished use of color.  This year she has extended her interest to include abstract paintings.

Bertola received her Ph.D. in Philosophy (abd) from the University of California, Berkeley.  Nine years ago she left her corporate career to become a fulltime painter.  Her continuing studies include private classes with Chester Arnold, Stanley Goldstein, Randy Sexton, Paul Bridenbaugh and Barry McCuan.

Bertola is represented by The River Gallery in Chattanooga Tennessee, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Artist’s Gallery, and the Living Gallery in Ashland OR.  She is a member of “The Group”, a San Francisco based painter’s society.

Recent events include: the NIOCON Designer Show, Chicago; Sausalito Women’s Club 2001 and 2005 Salon; MarinScapes Kentfield CA, the Bolinas Museum.  A one-person show is scheduled for April 2007 at the Throckmorton Theatre, Mill Valley CA
